Man´s anxiety to reach great heights can drive him into failure. Since the Tower of Babel to the Twin Towers in New York, the world has experienced changes due to the conflicts, incessantly arisen among societies of all times. The great project named Modernity has been already canceled, only to undertake any other, even knowing it could have great possibilities to fail. Hope and inertia persist and we keep constructing refuges, designing all kinds of models, trying to preserve the environment, storing information and producing art. Why have we lost confidence? What can be done to recover it? Why do we insist? Charles Jencks´s declarations on Pruitt-Igoe project, the presence of fear and terror in the course of human history, and the analysis of Vilém Flusser on the crisis of our models, may help us understand how art is behaving today, and why we live in uncertainty. El ansia del hombre por alcanzar las alturas puede llevarlo al fracaso. Desde la torre de Babel hasta las Torres Gemelas, el mundo ha cambiado a causa de los conflictos que incesantemente surgen en las sociedades de cualquier época. El gran proyecto conocido como la Modernidad, ha sido abandonado solo para intentar emprender cualquier otro, aún a sabiendas de que fallará. Sin embargo, la esperanza o la inercia persisten e insistimos en construir refugios, conservar el ambiente, diseñar modelos, almacenar información y producir arte. ¿Por qué se habrá perdido la confianza? ¿Qué se puede hacer para recuperarla? ¿Por qué seguimos insistiendo?
